My Research:
1. As students of foreign language learn language, what do they learn about the culture in which that
language is spoken?
      - What are their evolving concepts of that culture, and what informs these concepts?
      - How much culture is carried in the code (the language itself)?
      - What is the essential non-code information necessary for basic cultural competence?

2. Each language forms a coherent conceptual system.

       -
Will learning the language code enable learners to interact appropriately in the culture(s) in  
which the language is spoken?
       -
Are cultural values encoded in the language?
       -
Can a small number of "concept labels" (words) be distilled from a given language to serve as a
guide to learning its conceptual system?

And therefore, as a practical application, what specific cultural content must foreign language
teachers teach?
